Menschen unterschiedlicher NationenCEE in Bavaria

Bavaria has a long tradition of close relations with Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). Despite political upheavals, stable and lively relations have existed for decades between the two regions. Back in the seventies, the Bavarian State Government set up government commissions with Serbia and Croatia that were then extended to include nearly all the other states of Central and Eastern Europe.

Bavaria owes the stability and intensity of its relations with Central and Eastern Europe to the close ties that have developed linking the people with these regions. For decades, a large number of Central and Eastern Europeans have been living in Bavaria, including many displaced persons and repatriates of German descent. These communities have contributed to the development of intensive cultural, scientific and business networks that go beyond the connections that derive from sharing a language.

The familiarity with the people and culture, the relationships between states that have traditionally been close, as well as the intensive commitment of the Bavarian business community to Central and Eastern Europe make Bavaria an outstanding place of cooperation and partnership with Central and Eastern Europe. Its many advantages include good transportation links and institutionalized communication structures.
